Eating enough breakfast?

June 27, 2008 at 5:36 pm 2 comments

I was talking an online survey and one question stuck me as odd:

12. How often do you eat breakfast in a typical week?
Never
1 time
2-5 times

The choices presented to me don’t represent my breakfast intake of 7 days a week. Apparently not eating breakfast is very common. So much so, that ‘Never’ and ‘once a week’ make up 2/3 of the options.

What is the definition of breakfast for the survey? Does the granola bar I grab on the way out in the morning count, or must it be a sitting down to a plate of pancakes or an omelet? Either way I fall into the 2-5 slot cause often even the granola bar ends up getting forgotten in my coat pocket.

The survey did not say, but I would assume eating something in the morning time constitutes breakfast. Having a cup of coffee however, does not.
