gmail crashing my browser

Over the last few weeks I’ve noticed Firefox crashes when I attempt to leave my gmail inbox for another site. I type in the address of the site into the address bar, hit enter, and then nothing. The browser ends up crashing.

Is anyone else having this issue?

10% Discount

10% off is not a “sale”. I’m tired of stores in which every rack has a SALE sign with 90% of those signs reading 10% off. 10 percent matters on purchases of $1,000 or more.

NBA 20 second timeouts

NBA time out

Watching the Pistons/Celtics game last night I was agitated. The last 2 minutes of a basketball game always take 10-15 minutes to finish. 5 seconds of play, foul. 3 more seconds, timeout. And the NBA attempts to keep these breaks short:

Each team gets six full (100-second) timeouts per game, plus one 20-second timeout per half. You can take only three of those full timeouts in the fourth quarter, and only two of those can come in the last two minutes. In close games, teams will call for time as often as you’ll let them. (Source).

The 20 second timeout however, which was called by both teams last night, ended up taking 90 and 91 seconds between the timeout call and time in. There’s no reason the 20 second timeout should take nearly 5 times as long as allocated to execute.

Boo to the timeout and it’s energy drain.

Overboard on the Door Holding

In my opinion, there is too much door holding going on as of late. It’s gotten to the point that people can’t decide who should walk in the door first or who should walk up and open the door.

I say, if you’re leading the pack go ahead and walk up, open the door and walk through. Make sure to give that last little push on the door to keep it open after you walk in, so the next person does not have to re-open the door. However, you shouldn’t feel obligated to always hold the door for every single last person within eyesight of the door.

Sonic Drive In Review and Southgate Michigan Location

So I took some advice posted in the comments of Sonic Advertising and ate at a Sonic tonight. I was torn.

  • Blue coconut Slush was good.
  • Clean
  • Nice to see the roller waiter/waitress back in style and I liked the retro-drive in setup

  • Fries were cold
  • Drive-thru took 10 minutes and we were the only people in line
  • No ice in Lindsay’s lime-aid
  • Popcorn chicken container has a built-in sauce holder, which you would think would be a postivie. However, when you try to use it, the sauce blocks your access to the chicken because the holder is on the lid of the chicken container.

Directions to Southgate:

The new Sonic Drive-In location in Southgate MI is located in front of the Meijer at 16300 Fort St (Map)
The Sonic site now has the actual address of the location posted on their site. It’s 16270 Fort St, Southgate MI.

McDonald’s Expiration

I found it interesting today that McDonald’s salads are marked with a label that specifies the exact expiration, down to the minute, of that salad. The one I saw today said “Serve before 5:14 PM: May 16, 2008”.

Kinda crazy that they have it down to the exact minute. I wonder if the time is determined when whoever made the salad prints the label out? If so, couldn’t I make the salad and get distracted, forget to print the label, and then print the label later? That wouldn’t affect necessarily the freshness, but the exacting minute expiration would be off. Why not just use 15 minute increments? Is the public to believe they are so exacting that they will not serve you the last Chicken McSalad at 5:15 because the label reads 5:14?
